I’m getting so excited! There’s something major in store coming up for you babes in the next few weeks! I’m going to keep my lips sealed for the most part until then, but I can tell you it will involve some upcoming photo shoots! I’m excited, and also a little nervous. It’s been a while since I’ve been in front of a professional photographer and his unforgiving lens. And, I’m planning to share these photos with the entire internet! Gah! I tell all of you to love your body for all of its amazing qualities and to quit comparing yourselves. Yet, even I know it’s much easier said than done. We can all be our own worst critics!
I feel like I can be honest with all of you and say, I still have insecurities. I know, cue gasps! I mean, you can’t be that shocked. It’s hard to completely shake off decades of low body image. It’s nearly impossible for any of us to escape all of the millions of messages we get every day from the media, our peers, social media, etc telling us to look, act, and think a certain way. It takes practice to quiet the negative thoughts that cause self-doubt.
One of the easiest ways to get yourself out of a negative body image is to buy flattering clothes! It definitely won’t solve the problem on its own, but its a great tactic to get past negative self-talk. Of course, when I say clothes, I mean athletic apparel… this blog is called Life in Spandex after all.
One of the brands that I’m currently crushing on, and hope to wear in my upcoming shoots, is Athleta. All of their clothes will make you feel like a fitness model, give great support for the girls (which, with a large C-cup, I am very grateful for), don’t chafe, and are actually durable (say goodbye to ripped crotches!). I’ve already had my eye on a few items and now I’m even more excited because they are offering me and my readers 20% off all Athleta full-priced sports bras and support tops until Monday, September 7th! Use code: SUPPORT.*
I have a major weak spot for tops with awesome backs! It may be because of my dance background and all of the amazing costumes I got to wear. When you’ve been working hard in the gym, you want to show off those sexy back muscles! It’s way less pressure too, since no one expects you to have a six-pack on your back haha. This Full Force Tank gives you nearly the same ventilation as wearing a sports bra without the exposure. It’s high-coverage is nice so you don’t have to worry about an accidental peep show, too. I love it in the Capri Blue!
Oh man, how sexy is this low-cut Wherever Bra?! I would totally wear this outside of the gym as a layering piece too! What’s the saying? “If you got it, flaunt it”? Haha! Maybe not the best for running or doing HIIT, but I would definitely rock this to teach or take a Barre or Yoga class.
I love the new trend towards high-neck, halter tops. Hello sculpted shoulders! Sometimes, the easiest way to feel good about yourself is to just show off all your hard earned muscles. And, oh my gosh, how cute is the back detailing on the Zenith Tank?! (Again, I’m a sucker). It also comes in a sports bra, if you wanted to pair the two together for extra support or rock it alone.
The Uplift Crossback Bra is proof that supportive bras don’t have to be hideous! A bra that will lift everything up and keep it there without having to cover it up. Halleluiah!
A great trick to a flatter looking tummy are color blocks! The Start Up Tank draws all your attention to the tiniest part of your waist. The straps are perfect width, skinny enough to still look young and trendy, but thick enough to give support and stay put.
Small tata’s are sexy, too! Plus, I’m totally jealous of those of you who could wear less support without worry! The texturized pattern and rouching down the middle of the Space Dye Namaste Bra is great for anyone if who wants to give the illusion of being a little more endowed.
Which one’s should I wear for my photo shoot? Tell me soon because this exclusive offer ends Monday 9/7! I believe that every woman deserve gym clothes that make you look and feel your best. Your workout apparel should reflect the passion you have towards becoming fitter, healthier, and happier! Just like you should dress for the job you want, dress for the body and self-image you want! Fake it ’til you make it, ladies! Plus, I know I’m way more motivated to workout when I get to wear something that makes me feel great. Do you agree? Do you buy cute gym clothes to motivate you to sweat? Tell me in the comment box below!
Health and happiness,
