Healthy Halloween Candy Roundup

It’s that time of year again where you can’t go anywhere without being bombarded with the temptation of diving into a bite-sized Snickers… or Reese’s.. mmm, Reese’s. Whether it be the nostalgia of eating candy until I felt sick as a child, the colder weather, or darker nights, it feels that much harder to resist the urge to say yes to candy offerings this time of year. Or maybe it’s because every business I walk into has a huge bowl of Nestle goodies at their front desk! Can’t a girl run errands in peace?!

I believe chocolate and other healthy treats are they’re own food group that can be enjoyed on a regular basis. When I was little I would tell my parents I had a second stomach for dessert. And, I still do. However, it’s important to choose the right treats (and the correct portion sizes of them, mind you) if you’re trying to reach fitness goals or are trying to improve your overall health.

Last year, these paleo, gluten-free, low sugar Healthy Nut Butter Cups were a hit! When I was trying to come up with a recipe for healthy Halloween candy this year, however, I just couldn’t pick one! Instead, I am sharing with you my favorite recipes for healthier treats. From vegan, gluten-free, and paleo, these candies fit into an assortment of dietary restrictions. Because who wants only tricks?! 😉

  1. Wow! These are all look really good for being healthy! The Pumpkin Snickers Bars and Gummy Bears, in particular, look really tempting! I’m going to give one (or maybe both) a try. Thank you for the recipes!

  2. What I wouldn’t give to bite into one of those candies pictured above (especially the pumpkin snickers bar…that’s a genius idea!!)

  3. I’m a sucker for making a vanilla protein shake with cottage cheese and calling it a milk shake. My kids love it and I smile on the inside. I use truvia instead of sugar and they can’t tell a difference.

  4. Yummo! Those all look fantastic. We have a food allergy in our family, so we are always coming up with creative, healthy and safe alternatives. One of our favorites is soynut butter cups, but the boys also love our homeade nut-free trail mixes. Thanks for sharing!!

  5. OMG you are so right Em- the Reese’s are just too tempting! Remember when I “trained” you and your brother to get the Reese’s when we went trick-or-treating?? Haha some things will never change.
