It was early on a Thursday morning when the words, "I think we should break up" were spoken. My palms started to sweat and I could hear my heart pound with each eternal second that passed. There it was, the familiar pit in my stomach of my heart breaking. After 5 years of relationship and 2 years living together, our time as a couple ended in a matter of minutes. During the following four weeks I went through a roller coaster of emotions. The whirlwind of losing a partner is not an easy thing to go through, even if it is for the better. For the first few weeks, every moment was a fight to feel normal. So what did I do?
It’s that time of year again where you can’t go anywhere without being bombarded with the temptation of diving into a bite-sized Snickers… or Reese’s.. mmm, Reese’s. Whether it be the nostalgia of eating candy until I felt sick as a child, the colder weather, or darker nights, it feels that much harder to resist the urge to say yes to candy offerings this time of year. Or maybe it’s because every business I walk into has a huge bowl of Nestle goodies at their front desk! Can’t a girl run errands in peace?! I believe chocolate and other healthy treats are they’re own food group that can be enjoyed on a regular basis. When I was little I would
There’s nothing scary about toned arms, sculpted abs, a round, lifted booty and strong legs. None the less, this Halloween workout is keeping the SPOOKTACULAR momentum on Life in Spandex going! I get it, the days are getting shorter, the weather is getting cooler, and lives continue to get busier until the end of the year. I’m over here trying to soak up my favorite month of the year and Target’s already got Christmas merchandise on display! Why? Like the majority of you, I juggle a lot of responsibilities. When I’m not creating content for Life in Spandex, I’m working full-time in gym management, teaching barre classes at Carmel Barre, and trying to maintain a healthy almost-27 year old’s social
So if you read the Pumpkin Pie Protein Pancakes recipe post, you know I’m set on ACTUALLY carving a pumpkin this year. Well, it has yet to happen. That doesn’t mean I’m not in the Halloween spirit. Au contraire. The time not spent making Jack-o-Lanterns was filled with getting lost in a corn maze, being chased by chain saws in a Haunted House (that is a great way to get in your cardio for the day, by the way), and carving some bell peppers! Yes, you heard that correctly. In the spirit of Halloween, I turned your average stuffed peppers recipe into a Spooktacular one! 😉 Aside from being really cute and festive, there’s a couple things I love about
Guys, I am OBSESSED! I have found a style of training that gets you in and out of the gym in 30-minutes but gives you the results of working out for 1+ hours. Okay, so maybe I didn't come up with it from scratch. It's a type of training that has been around for a while. But I finally made it the bulk of my workouts and it works! It's a combination of HIIT and strength training and it's called AMRAP or "As Many Reps As Possible." AMRAP is exactly as it sounds. You try to get in as many reps of a set of exercises in a designated amount of time. This is the perfect equation for a short
